5 Hydroponic Systems – Which one is Right For You?

Friday, February 27th, 2009

There are 5 most common methods used for nutrient delivery in a hydroponic garden. They include:

            • Water Culture Method
            • Nutrient Film Technique(NFT)
            • Ebb and flow
            • Drip
            • Wick

Each hydroponic nutrient delivery method has both advantages and disadvantages. For this reason it is important, as you plan your hydroponic garden, to decide on a method that suits you. Keep in mind the location of your garden, materials required, ongoing maintenance and your skill level.

Personally, for those starting out, I reccomend the "water culture method". This is easier to setup and more importantly, to maintain. This method provides a great starter hydroponic garden for those who want to have a test run before building a more comprehensive garden. It also can be a great educational tool for teachers wanting to introduce students to hydroponic gardenning.

More Benefits I Didn’t Know About Home Hydroponic Gardening

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Ok, even I knew that Hydroponically grown food was supposed to be good for you, although I had no idea why. What I discovered from "The Hydroponic Garden" book though is that the benefits are large and many.

It's great to discover just how to set up your own hydroponic garden at home, but it's even better to find out why you would bother. The rewards are so great and the effort and cost to get started are so small, I 'm running out of excuses to not make a start.

So what are all these benefits?…… I'm glad you asked.

For starters, the hydroponic gardener has complete control over what nutrients the plants receive and the contaminents they are likely to be exposed to. This cannot be achieved with plants grown in soil. This benefit is actually the main reason why hydroponically grown food is so nutritious.

Climate is the next benefit of hydroponics. Regular gardening is at the mercy of the elements, but because you place your hydroponic garden where you want it, you can control climate too.

Space is the other beneficial factor for the would-be hydroponic gardenner. Normal gardens require bulk space. With Hydroponics however, if you have a condo, a carspace or even a cupboard, you've got space for a garden.

Bigger Plants, Better fruit! I never thought about it but it makes sense. A soil grown plant uses a lot of energy just growing against the resistance of the ground around it. Hydroponically grown plants don't have this disadvantage and so their full energy is put toward growing bigger, more abundant, healthier fruit. WOW!

The list goes on and on. So if you'd like to get the full picture on having your own home hydroponic garden click here to find out how to get your copy of "The Hydroponic Garden" downloaded TODAY!
